It is 1943, a German couple, Hedwig and Rudolf Höss, are raising five children in their dream house in the Polish countryside. Behind the wall of their blooming garden lies the German concentration camp Auschwitz, where Rudolf is the commandant. Just outside the zone of interest, Olusia, a young girl from Auschwitz, helps prisoners of the camp together with other Poles. The empathy of the Polish child, her courage and sacrifice, contrast with the willful German ignorance of the crime against the population, of which they themselves are the perpetrators.
