It’s 12th of December 1981. Joan Andrews, British profesor of psychiatry arrives in Warsaw to attend an international conference. Alina, a young PhD student picks her up from the airport and drives her straight to the conference. Her speech is interupted by a demonstration against the communist regime.

After a lavish banquet, Alina takes her to a small apartment and promises to pick her up tomorrow. Alina does not appear the next day, the phone is silent and there are tanks on the streets.

Thus begins the story of Professor Andrews in Warsaw paralyzed by the outbreak of Martial Law who gets entangled in a political intrugue…
