Description

The OldTown is located in a central part called City’s Hill on which the medieval city Bielsko from the 13th century was settled. A total area of the hill is 4 ha and is an irregular 300×200 m oval in shape.

Borders of the historic OldTown are marked by streets: Orkana, Waryńskiego, Sikorskiego and Zamkowa.

 

The OldTown owes its present look to rich history and constant changes. The historic OldTown has preserved its original medieval urban planning.

In the OldTown we can find:

– Saint Nicholas cathedral,

– Evangelical-AugsburgChurchof Redeemer,

– market place with the monument of St. Jan Nepomucen,

– fountains,

– tenement houses with arcades,

– remains of the city wall,

– the Museum of Literature,

– the Museum of Technology and Textile Industry,

– Mermaid statue,

– Little Devil fountain.

 

The OldTown in Bielsko-Biała is one of the oldest and most beautiful market places in Poland. Extraordinary scenery and a great number of relics make it a perfect place for film shots.
