The market square in Żywiec
Żywiec
Description
The very central spot of the city – the market square in Żywiec – came into being in the first half of the 15th century; it was designed on the chessboard plan. The medieval castle owes its modern look to the renovation that took place after the great fire of the city in 1905. In 2014 the area underwent revitalisation.
There are:
– St. Florian’s fountain,
– Town Hall,
– historical stone belfry,
– St. John Paul II’s monument,
– four storey tower,
– historical tenements.
There are many retail spots around the market square. Additionally during the summertime many beer gardens erect around the market square.
