St. Mary’s Church in Katowice

Description
The Immaculate Conception Parish Church, situated at the heart of Katowice, is the oldest temple in the city centre. It was erected between 1863 and 1870 according to Alexis Langerow’s design. The Latin cross in plan, Gothic Revival church, was built with the use of Silesian dolomite joints.
Inside the St. Mary’s Church there are:
– row of low chevets,
– nave with a polyhedral chancel,
– altar,
– sacristy,
– oratory.
In front of the church there is a 71-meter high, Gothic Revival tower. A wide square with an adhering presbytery and a small car park stretches around the building.
