Description
The main square in Rybnik came into being between 13th and 14th centuries. The brick buildings arose at least 500 years later. In the following years the classicist, neo-renaissance, eclectic and early modernist buildings were added, part of them still remains untouched. The square built on the rectangular plan is surrounded by the historic tenement houses, department store and Saint John of Nepomuk’s statue.
Most of the buildings surrounding the square house the shops and retail spots. During the summer the central part of the square is occupied by the small gardens of the nearby cafes and restaurants.
