MIECHOWICE HOUSING ESTATE

Description
Miechowice housing estate is located in western part of Bytom and along with the residents of Stolarzowice and Górniki there are 30,000 inhabitants. The area of Miechowice was incorporated into Bytom in 1951. In 2008 on the initiative of the inhabitants, the area was designated as a district of Bytom.
There are many interesting historic buildings in the city:
– estate of the Finnish houses
– Holy Cross Church from 1864, built in neo-Gothic style,
– Corpus Christi Church from 1917, built in neo-Baroque style,
– neo-Gothic St Barbara’s Chapel on the Góra Gryca [Gryc mountain],
– and remains of the Tiele-Winckler Palace from 1812-1817, ruined in 1945.
Bytom borders on the cities of: Zabrze, Chorzów, Ruda Śląska, Piekary Ślaskie and Świętochłowice.
