Built in medieval times market square has the hallmarks of many historic transformations. Recently conducted excavations revealed the ruins of:

– elements of medieval town hall.
Market square in Bytom is in the shape of a rectangle. Many fascinating buildings and monuments can be found there:
– Lomnitz Hotel,
– the sculpture “Sleeping lion”,
– town hall,
– 19th century tenements in (among others) eclectic style,
– fountain.
Market square as the cultural and social spot is one of the most popular places in Bytom. During the summertime many cafes open and the place is vibrant with life. Filming of the movie “The Mother” was done by this market square.
Chorzów and Katowice are located in close proximity.
