Kopalniana Street in Katowice

Katowice

Budynki z czerwonej cegły

Description

Kopalniana Street is located in Bogucice, one of the oldest districts of Katowice. Formerly the street led to the already non-existent Katowice coal mine. Now a new residence of the Silesian Museum and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice are located there.

Typical, Silesian buildings, which are the location of flats and a kindergarten, prevail here. The buildings have been made of red brick, the windows’ frames painted white and green and small, green spaces parceled in front of the buildings. Next to the tenement house there are garages with a parking lot.

In front of one of the buildings there is the figure of St. Barbara from 1933 and a clothes-horse.

Kopalniana Street is situated near the exit road to Łódź, Kraków and Wrocław.
