Housing estate ‘A’ in Tychy located in the Śródmieście district was built between 1951 and 1956 according to the project of Tadeusz Teodorowicz- Todorowski as a typical socialist realism architecture and urban planning. A total area of the housing estate is 18 ha.
On the premises of the housing estate there are:
– central square with a community centre,
– the Young Worker with Trowel memorial designed by Stanisław Marcinow,
– the Miner’s Lamp monument,
– service buildings e.g. day nursery, outpatient clinic, school, kindergarten.
It is a very cozy housing estate. It mainly includes low buildings with various details. A railway station is in the vicinity.
It will be possible to see the housing estate in the film ‘Sky walk’.
