Description

Roman Catholic church in Wodzisław Śląski was built between 1909 and 1911 on the ruins of the former sanctuary. The neogothic building has been designed by Ludwig Schneider, the architect from Wroclaw. The church itself is 46 meters long and 22 meters wide with the tower that is 40 meters high. The cross-ribed ceiling is supported by six piers. Inside the church there are:

– Pictures of Jan Nepomucen from 1867 and Virgin Mary of Szkaplerz,

– Sculptures – the Crucifixion on Christ form 18th century,

– Baroque sculptures of virgin Mary and St John,

– Marble Altar with the wooden tabernacle,

– Organs made by Berschdof company in 1912,

– And reliquary in the shape of monstrance from 1700.

14 Stations of the Cross together with the numerous saints’ figures are located on the northern and southern walls of the church. The cemetery and the clergy house have been built in front of the church.

The church is located in the city center, right next to the main square.
