Academy of music
Katowice
Description
Established in 1929 The Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music is the oldest school of university level in Upper Silesia. The buildings of the Academy are linked together by the spacious atrium.
It links together:
– neo-gothic building constructed at the turn of 19th and 20th centuries which used to house the seats of the Silesian Sejm and the Voivodeship Office,
– modern building designed by Tomasz Konior which includes the concert hall for 480 people, library with a reading room, music laboratory, therapy hall, computer room and restaurant,
– building that houses the Academy’s authorities’ offices,
– building where lectures take place.
The interiors are dominated by the artificial light. In front of the building the car park is available.
Beautiful, renovated interiors with the remarkable acoustics and the perceptible aura of the past can enthrall various film producers.
