Utgard

Utgard is a historical reenactment group. We recreate the material culture, military and everyday life of Norway’s inhabitants during the Viking period. The initiative to found the group arose in 2015 in Katowice but we chose Gliwice as its headquarters. Since May 2018, we have been formally operating as an association. Our group has a craftsmanship and military character, bringing together primarily those interested in early medieval crafts and warriors engaged in the reconstruction of period weapons, tactics and combat methods. The group’s structure is inspired by early medieval armed teams, warriors, craftsmen as well as servants, slaves and other members of the population gathered around a wealthy chieftain known as Jarl.
